May 2014 Review

GuardHome bellbox

What a month May turned out to be?

Our focus remains on the preparation work to get our new offices complete for opening on the 28th June. Because we are refurbishing an existing garden building, that was previously used as a recreational area, complete with small swimming pool etc, we had  to remove all existing plant and machinery and plan a complete transformation. If you are a follower of GuardHome on twitter you might have seen the occasional pictures showing this transformation taking place.

Well that is all behind us now, and the trades will soon be in there doing their stuff. I am using an environmental consultant to ensure that the completed offices provide a comfortable working environment but have minimal environmental impact. So we are using high levels of thermally efficient insulation and screening materials,  light weight amorphous solar panels and low energy lighting, cooling and heating. I am also delighted to say that we remain slightly ahead of schedule, with the early weeks in June being the critical time.

We have taken a root and branch review of our security arrangements for our electronic media and communications. Again the is a prelude to shifting this over to the new office in June. During this process we discovered a vulnerability that we felt was not acceptable to our systems and clients, so we have moved all of our accounts to an alternative hosting company. This caused some disruption during the transfer with the loss of our website for a period and sadly a short period of time when our emails stopped working. So if you tried to get in touch with us during this period and we did not reply, please accept our apologies and try again. The good thing is we are now back up and running and we are far better placed to maintain control of our electronic data in the same way that we are for our physical data. The protection of our clients data is as important as their premises.

During all of this, and having to contend with several bank and staff holidays, we are keeping up with our scheduled maintenance activities. We have also started handing out to our valuable clients free GuardHome personal alarms as part of our ten year celebrations, as a thank you for your loyal support.

If you haven’t received your yet, don’t worry we will get round to you when your maintenance visit is due.

Finally I have a new tag line “Seriously Good Security For People Who Take Their Security Seriously” What do you think?
