GuardHome Exhibiting At The Gibberd Gallery

Harlow is justly proud of its engineering heritage. It is home to Fiber Optics and this year it is celebrating 50 years of its discovery by Sir Charles Kao, at the artistic home of another of its celebrated residents, and designer of Harlow itself, Sir Frederick Gibberd.

The Gibberd Gallery at the Civic Centre in Harlow, houses a permanent gallery that provides a permanent reminder of Harlow’s artistic heritage and this year these two are being fused together in an exhibition called Arts Means Business

We were approached by the Gibberd Gallery Director, Cortina Dunlea, to put together an exhibit that illustrates our business activities, but in a way that would be informative and interesting to visitors.

To introduce a bit of fun for the visitors we decided to make our exhibit inter-active, using Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) cameras with a joystick controller that allowed them to operate one of the cameras and see the effect on a monitor.

The joystick mounted on the plinth will allow visitors to control the smaller Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) camera, above the monitor to experience how CCTV can be used to view and track activities of interest. The larger open PTZ is to illustrate to visitors the complexity of the engineering in one of these devices, and the artistry of putting it all together.

The exhibition will run from October through to December 2016 at the Gibberd Gallery at the Harlow Civic Centre.
