Whenever I read about events such as this, it evokes two emotions in me.

The first is incredible sadness because loss of life is bad enough, but the death of children takes this to a totally new level.

The second is anger, because often these events are so easily prevented by a relatively small outlay.

I have no idea whether this family had fire detection equipment in their home. Nothing more sophisticated than good quality smoke and heat detectors, properly installed and maintained, can provide the valuable minutes that save life (and property) when fire breaks out.
